Lydium is a consulting engineering firm specializing in process engineering, pilot plants, and techno-economic analysis for industrial startup companies and their investors. We work closely with our clients’ technical and management teams to develop their concepts from early stages to operating pilot or demonstration plants. Our clients across Canada and the U.S. value our technical expertise, responsiveness, and collaborative approach. We provide exceptional value through long-term relationships, supporting clients through all phases of their journey to success.
Our firm is led by a small team of engineering partners who are deeply involved in every project. Our growing list of specializations currently include extractive metallurgy, electrochemical systems, membrane systems, techno-economic modeling, and pilot plant design and execution.
We are seeking an Engineer in Training (EIT) to contribute to Lydium’s portfolio of technology development projects for our industrial startup clients. Working under the supervision of Senior and Intermediate Engineers, you will assist with the design of pilot- and demonstration-scale plants, participate in on-site commissioning and operational activities, and provide on-the-ground and remote process and data analysis support during pilot campaign operations. You will also assist with techno-economic analysis (TEA) activities for our earlier-stage clients, including process design, process modelling, financial modelling, and technology/commercial landscape reviews.
We strive to integrate our EITs into hands-on, on-site projects so that they can get maximum exposure to the exciting work being done by our clients. If you are assigned to one of these projects, a substantial amount of travel may be required, especially when our clients are implementing major design or operational changes.
To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of technical expertise, project engineering skills, interpersonal skills, a strong aptitude for data analysis, and enthusiasm for gaining hands-on operational experience. You must be flexible, intellectually agile, and possess a good sense of humour to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
We strive to provide a flexible working environment that prioritizes productivity and balance for you, the company, and our client. Lydium’s hybrid working model gives professionals considerable flexibility to choose whether they do their work in the office, from their home, or on the road.
EITs at Lydium start their careers as full time in-office employees. You will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with other new professionals and senior technical staff in our beautiful Vancouver office, which includes a variety of social and private spaces that fosters both collaboration and focus work.
